Ongoing Extra Credit Assignment: Practice Test
Make up a practice test as an extra credit assignment, worth up to
5 "Mole Points". You may turn in an extra credit practice test for
each test in a quarter; remember, however, that the total amount of
extra credit you can earn may not exceed 5% of the total possible
points for the quarter.
Extra credit points will be awarded according to the following rubric:
- completeness: [1 mole point] All topics are covered on the test.
- types of questions: [1 mole point] Practice test includes
multiple choice/matching, short answer, and open response/essay
questions.
- difficulty: [1/2 mole point] Questions should be
challenging but not impossible.
- length: [1/2 mole point] Your test should take an
average student about 2 full mods (50 minutes).
- answer key: [1 mole point] All answers must be given and
correct. For problems/open response questions, all work must be
shown.
- rubric: [1 mole point] For all problems other than multiple
choice, you must include a rubric that tells how partial credit is to
be awarded, in 2-3 point increments. (For problems, show the point
value for each step. For essays, list the major points that should be
addressed with point values for each.)
If you choose to do this extra credit assignment, your practice test is
due in class on the day of the actual test.
