Saving Files in Rich Text Format (RTF)

Almost all word processing programs, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, WordPad, OpenOffice, and WordPerfect, can read and save files in Rich Text Format.

Any document that you submit in electronic form (including on a USB flash drive) to any teacher (or college professor) should be an RTF document. This will ensure that your teacher can open the file, regardless of which program was used to create it.

To save a document in Rich Text Format, select "Save As..." from the File menu, and then select Rich Text Format (*.rtf) from the "Save as type:" list.
